Who Owns This Site

Shutoff Valley has the same owners as two online water-treatment shops, SoftPro Water Systems and Quality Water Treatment, and this page explains where that shows up.

The owners

Shutoff Valley shares its owners with SoftPro Water Systems and Quality Water Treatment, two shops that sell water softeners, filters and related products online. The site is not a plumbing company, a contractor or a utility, and it is not connected to LADWP, Burbank Water and Power, Glendale Water & Power or the City of San Fernando.

Shop links appear only where a product fits the question a page answers. That means the water hardness page, the chloramine page, the chromium-6 page, the lead page and the pages in the filters and softeners folder. Each of those pages carries a note naming the shared ownership next to the shop box. Pages about pipes, water heaters and earthquakes carry no shop links.

How shop claims are handled

A product description on a shop's listing is the shop's own claim, and the site labels it that way. Where a product is certified, the page names the certifier and the standard as they appear in the certifier's listing, and it does not stretch a certification to contaminants the listing does not cover. Pages start from your water: on LADWP water a softener is a comfort and scale choice, while Burbank's, Glendale's and San Fernando's harder water makes scale a stronger reason. Prices are given only as the shop's listed price on the date checked, and listings can change after that.

Lines this site won't cross

Shop links are ordinary links. They are not marked as sponsored, and no page talks about payouts per sale or per click, because there are none: the same owners run the shops. The site does not rank its owners' products against others, invent tests or reviews, or make health claims about softened or filtered water. It does not link test kits that claim lab analysis, ionizers or other products the evidence does not support. If a page and a shop listing disagree, go by the certifier's listing and your supplier's water quality report.
